New French Bakery is seeking a Packing Lead for 1st shift and 3rd shift to work with production and packing team members to ensure bread products are packaged safely and efficiently for our customers. The Packing Lead will assist the Supervisor in the ongoing training and development of packaging team members and monitor the product quality from production to packaging.

Regular 1st shift hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Regular 3rd shift hours are 10:00 pm to 6:30 am. Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand product specification sheets and ensure all products meet specifications before packaging and sending to customers.
  • Verify product is labeled and packaged correctly.
  • Direct and coach employees in packaging area, lead by example as needed and work closely with Supervisor regarding any staffing or training needs.
  • Monitor equipment and notify Supervisor and Maintenance of any equipment issues or problems impacting production.
  • Report any food safety and quality concerns immediately and assist in root cause analysis to problem solve situation.
  • Collect packing paperwork, ensure accuracy and report out at end of shift.
  • Maintain safe environment and provide a positive working environment for production team members.
  • Learn packing positions and ability to operate machinery in order to assist line workers as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, food industry experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of production / packaging equipment and processes
  • Ability to read and communicate packing specification, palletizing logs, metal detector sheets and other paperwork to employees
  • Computer experience and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook is needed
  • Demonstrated leadership and positive coaching ability
  • Professional communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to working standing consistently throughout the shift with bending, reaching, twisting and lifting required periodically
  • Multi-tasking and ability to deal with uncertainty, make good decisions, handle pressure, provide follow through and attention to detail is necessary
