Position Overview
A growing, award-winning manufacturing organization is urgently seeking a skilled Paint and Robotics Technician to join the team at our Charlestown, Indiana facility. This critical role is responsible for the programming, optimization, and daily operational success of automated 6-axis robotics within our paint department. The ideal candidate will possess strong robotics expertise combined with an understanding of industrial painting, fluid delivery, or powder coating environments. This is a stable, day-shift position offering an excellent opportunity to work with high-performing, best-in-class automated systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize 6-axis robot paths (FANUC or similar) and paint parameters, including gun distance, trigger points, and fan patterns.
- Program, troubleshoot, and write programs for robots primarily located in the paint and spraying department.
- Independently set up, calibrate, and resolve process issues with automated spray equipment, fluid delivery systems, and applicators to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on end-of-arm tooling, paint robots, and secondary equipment.
- Ensure the paint finish meets OEM quality specifications (including film build, adhesion, and appearance).
- Maintain accurate, updated robot programs, standard work instructions, and setup documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an automated, industrial manufacturing environment, specifically working with paint robots.
- Proven hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting 6-axis robots (FANUC or similar).
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform root-cause analysis on coating and paint defects
- Prior experience in automated multi-pass spray applications, powder coating, or liquid spray systems.
- Strong understanding of fluid delivery systems and coating application processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical diploma or certificate in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation, or equivalent work experience
