Paint Supervisor

Essential Duties

• Supervise the daily operations of the Paint & Body Department to ensure repairs are completed on time, within budget, and to established quality standards.
• Plan, prioritize, and assign work to technicians based on production schedules, workload, and department priorities.
• Monitor repair progress and adjust staffing or workflow as needed to meet customer commitments and production deadlines.
• Oversee vehicle body and paint repairs, including structural repairs, surface preparation, color matching, refinishing, and final quality inspections.
• Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer repair procedures, OEM standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Perform final quality control inspections before vehicles are released to customers.
• Coach, train, and develop technicians through ongoing feedback, mentoring, and hands-on instruction.
• Conduct performance evaluations, address performance concerns, and support employee development and succession planning.
• Manage employee schedules, timecards, attendance, and time-off requests.
• Collaborate with the Production Manager and other departments to coordinate job scopes, production timelines, and resource allocation.
• Maintain inventory of paint and body materials, equipment, and supplies while minimizing waste and controlling costs.
• Ensure all shop equipment is properly maintained and that employees follow safe operating procedures.
• Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that complies with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new team members.
• Attend manufacturer and technical training as required and ensure department certifications remain current.
• Assist with paint and body repairs as needed to support production demands.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

• Extensive experience in automotive body repair and refinishing, including structural repairs, color matching, and aluminum repair techniques.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a collision repair, fleet maintenance, or automotive paint and body environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair methods, paint systems, materials, equipment, and OEM repair procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience coordinating workflow, assigning work, and managing production schedules.
• Commitment to quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and continuous process improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using shop management or production software is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

ADA Requirements:

• Bend, squat, climb, grasp, twist, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods.
• Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs frequently, or more occasionally.
• Walk, stand, or otherwise move about continuously.
• Typically sits, grasp items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer.
• Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards including chemicals which may require respiratory protection.
