Painter I

Position Summary

Operate automated and manual powder-coat paint systems to produce quality parts according to production schedules, specifications, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate powder-coating and painting equipment.
  • Inspect painted parts for defects such as incomplete coverage, surface imperfections, or other quality issues.
  • Perform quality checks and coating tests to verify paint adhesion, thickness, and finish quality.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to determine masking and plugging requirements.
  • Produce parts that meet established quality and production standards.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Track work orders and inventory accurately.
  • Complete required production records, reports, and computer transactions.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

  • 6–12 months of manufacturing, painting, or related industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience with powder-coating processes is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and production documents.
  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to understand workplace instructions and complete required documentation.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to work with measurements, weights, distances, and quantities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during an 8-hour shift.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and use of hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and inspect painted surfaces for quality.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with moving machinery and equipment.
  • Exposure to airborne particles, paint materials, and elevated temperatures.
  • High-noise environment requiring hearing and other protective equipment.
  • Requires adherence to all safety procedures and standards.
