Paint and Finish Technician
Job Location: Petaluma, California
Job Type: Temp to Hire
Pay Rate: $20-$21/hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 6:30am-3pm
Description of Position:
Do you have experience working with silicone, fabric, painting, sculpting, or other detailed artistic materials? Our client is seeking a detail oriented Paint and Finish Technician to help transform raw silicone body parts into lifelike medical manikin simulators for both human and canine training.
This is a hands on role combines painting, sewing, trimming, gluing, sculpting, assembly, and finishing techniques to create realistic, durable, and functional medical simulators. the ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, strong manual dexterity, and enjoys hands on creative work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process and finish silicone body parts to meet quality and appearance standards
- Repair blemishes, tears, air bubbles, and other imperfections, blending repairs to make them as seamless as possible
- Remove flashing and sprues and finish silicone casting to reduce visible seams
- Prepare surfaces and apply color, shading, and realistic skin tones using silicone paints
- Learn and work with compounds and materials used by the Paint and Finish Department
- Create realistic wounds using urethane and silicone appliances and silicone "blood"
- Assist with final manikin pack-out and preparation for shipment
- Learn to fabricate components using hand and soft materials, including casting, trimming, tooling, gluing, sculpting, and painting

Experience Required:
- Excellent manual dexterity and a strong eye for detail and color
- Strong attention to the appearance and quality of finished products
- Ability to understand and work with three dimensional shapes and concepts
- Basic sewing skills, including working with different fabrics or fur
- Willingness to learn techniques involving zippers, snaps, and other closeures
- Basic sculpting skills or experience with hands on artistic projects
- Comfortable using artist tools and small hand or power tools such as brushes, sculpting tools, and Dremel tools
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and learn new fabrication techniques
