Responsibilities:
Assist with surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and staging structural fabricated components for painting.
Support paint mixing, coating application, touch-ups, and finishing under the direction of foremen, supervisors, or experienced painters.
Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for painting and fabrication work.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety standards and proper handling practices.
Follow verbal and written instructions while developing painting, preparation, and fabrication support skills within the Weld/Fab department.
Requirements:
1-2 years of commercial/industrial experience or related technical schooling preferred.
Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using common hand and power tools.
Basic math, measuring, and geometry skills.
Painting, surface preparation, paint mixing, or finishing experience preferred.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Dependable, self-directed, and able to work effectively with others.
Valid driver's license required.
Equipment and tool experience:
Forklift experience preferred.
Overhead crane experience preferred.
Experience loading trailers with construction or fabricated materials preferred.
Basic experience with painting and preparation tools, including brushes,
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
