Experience Knowledge and Skill

  1. Previous Experience Required Construction experience in hospital and/or other facility preferred, which should include hands-on experience in general commercial construction framing and finishing.

  2. Specialized or Technical Education Required High School Diploma or equivalent and knowledge in general construction required. Requires considerable knowledge of all tools and how to operate them to do the following types of work: • Carpentry • Metal ceiling • Floors • Repairing of doors and assorted hardware

  3. Manual or Physical Skill Required Requires considerable hand-eye coordination. Must be able to properly operate electronic and mechanical devices.

  4. Physical Effort Required Frequent walking and climbing of stairs and ladders, intermittent stooping bending and crawling while making repairs to equipment, steady muscular exertion demanding considerable strength, ability to lift 100 lbs.

  2. Seriousness of Errors Maintenance errors may cause needless delays, may cause avoidable replacement of costly equipment, and in certain circumstances may threaten bodily harm or even death.

C. Working Conditions

  1. Hazards Handling dangerous chemicals, threatening acid burns, and also includes possibility of falling while climbing ladders to reach equipment, electric shock, oxygen combustion, and exposure to excessive heat hazards exist with the use of mechanical equipment. Infectious waste hazard.

E. Responsibilities

  5. Responsibility for the Supervision of Others The incumbent is not responsible for direct supervision, however, the employee is often called upon to provide advice and expertise related to other job performance.

Responsibilities DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting.

  2. Build new walls made of metal studs and gypsum board.

  3. Float and finish gypsum board.

  4. Installation of suspended ceiling tile.

  5. Installation of vinyl floor tile.

  6. Build and/or install millwork.

  7. General knowledge of plastic laminate work, patch repair, or new.

  8. Build, patch, or replace any type of wooden item, furniture, cabinets, shelves, counter tops, etc.

  9. Assist fellow employees in any type of maintenance or repairs needed.

  10. Maintains and helps clean the shop area and tools.

  11. Keeps supply of materials on job site.

  12. Observes all safety regulations and practices.

  13. Performs additional duties as required, as necessary, and as directed.

  14. Cooperates and works with fellow employees.

  15. Follows North Oaks Health Systems Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
