Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Laborer to support the preparation and finishing of structural steel used in large commercial buildings such as airports, hospitals, and shopping centers. This role works in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment and supports skilled painters.
Responsibilities
- Prepare steel for painting by taping, sanding, and grinding surfaces
- Assist skilled painters in the application and finishing of coatings
- Follow established painting procedures and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with team members to maintain workflow
- Operate an overhead crane to safely lift, move, and position steel materials
- Evaluate loads and follow proper hoisting and safety practices
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment
- Comfort working around heavy materials, noise, dust, and changing temperatures
- Strong attention to safety procedures and instructions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Overhead crane or manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months to one year of related skill or experience preferred.
Work Environment
This position is based in a large structural steel fabrication facility. The environment is industrial and can be loud, dusty, and subject to seasonal temperature changes. Employees work around heavy steel materials and equipment where safety is a top priority. This role may not be suitable for individuals with sensitivities to dust or airborne particles.

Pay: $15.50/hour
