Position Overview
The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying coatings to metal parts, equipment, and structures. This Industrial Painter role ensures all finishes meet quality, safety, and production standards. The ideal Industrial Painter is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and experienced with industrial painting processes and equipment.
Required Experience & Skills
Experience or basic knowledge of industrial painting and surface preparation
Ability to identify parts, materials, and surface types
Ability to safely use spray guns, sandblasting equipment, and hand tools
Must be able to wear a respirator during painting and blasting operations
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Ability to follow all safety procedures and guidelines
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces through sanding, blasting, grinding, cleaning, masking, and priming
Apply coatings using spray equipment, brushes, or rollers
Mix and prepare paints according to specifications and technical data sheets
Operate painting and blasting equipment safely and efficiently
Inspect finished work for coverage, thickness, and adhesion quality
Read and follow work orders and job instructions
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of painting equipment
Meet production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with industrial coatings (epoxies, urethanes, zinc primers)
Experience painting metal or fabricated components
Familiarity with coating thickness gauges or inspection tools
Forklift or overhead crane experience (preferred)
Work Environment
Industrial/manufacturing environment
Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and blasting materials
Physically active role requiring standing, lifting, and repetitive motion
PPE required, including respirators and protective gear
