We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Coating department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for one (1), J4 Painter.
Shift : 06:00 AM to 2:45 PM (1st Shift)
Security Clearance: No Clearance
GUIDELINES FOR MARINE PAINTER
JOURNEYPERSON 4 (Marine Painter)
Must meet all Journeyperson Marine Painter 3 requirementsMust also know how to set-up jobs and spraying equipment Must know how to measure and record DFT and environmental readingsMust be proficient in brush and rolling painting, general house cleaning, or knowledge of all pumping (gas free) proceduresMust be able to oversee a small group of peopleShould be able to troubleshoot equipment to ensure the job progressesMust be proficient in the requirements of NAVSEA 009-32 standard item
JOURNEYPERSON 3 (Marine Painter)
Must meet all Journeyperson Marine Painter 2 requirements
Must have knowledge of mixing and application of epoxy and enamel paintsMust be able to perform his/her job in appropriate time frame without on-site supervisionMust be able to read job specs and complete the job accordinglyShould understand the requirements of NAVSEA 009-32 standard item
JOURNEYPERSON 2 (Marine Painter)
Must meet all Journeyperson Marine Painter 1 requirementsMust know how to use power tools associated with surface preparation and paint removalMust have knowledge of brushing and rolling paintingMust have knowledge of surface preparation SSPC-SP-1, SP-2, SP-3, SP-5, SP-6, SP-10, SP-11 AND SP-12Must have knowledge of the paints used in marine painting, including safety data sheets and NAVSEA 718 product data sheetsMust possess knowledge of the differences between critical coated systems and non-critical coated systemsMust have knowledge concerning paint induction times and also have some knowledge of spray painting, or pumping (gas free) proceduresMay have two or more of the following SSPC certifications: C7, C12, C13, or C14 Ability to perform work in confined spacesKnowledge of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32 and the requirements
JOURNEYPERSON 1 (Marine Painter)
Must be SSPC certified in preservation in one of the following: (C7, C12, C13, or C14) or Coast Guard certified in pumpingMust have good housekeeping skillsMust know how to take care of hand tools: greasing and storageMust be able to perform their job safelyMust have some knowledge about power tool cleaning, or pumping (gas free)
