Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Painter to join our maintenance team at a luxury apartment complex in Jersey City, NJ. The Painter will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the aesthetic quality of residential units, common areas, and external facilities through painting, patching, and other surface preparations. This role is essential to ensuring the visual appeal and overall satisfaction of our residents.


Key Responsibilities of a Painter:
  • Interior Apartment Painting: Perform detailed interior painting of apartments, including preparations such as spackling, sanding, priming, caulking, masking, and taping to ensure high-quality finishes.
  • Surface Preparation: Use drop cloths and other protective coverings to maintain cleanliness; apply primer, tape, and prepare surfaces as needed for painting.
  • Light Maintenance Duties: Assist maintenance personnel with minor repairs and support various projects, contributing to an efficient and well-kept community.
  • Turnover Preparation: Ensure apartments are fully prepared for new move-ins by completing paint touch-ups and addressing any surface repairs.
  • Orderly Work Area: Maintain a clean, neat, and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and supplies are stored properly after completing painting or maintenance tasks.
  • Work Order Management: Schedule, monitor, and fulfill work order requests from the supervisor, community staff, or residents in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications of a Painter:
  • 1+ years' experience as a Painter in multifamily residential or commercial real estate.
  • Proficiency in using various painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent color-matching skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift/move heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of paint properties, finishes, and preparation techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in apartment complexes or similar settings.
  • Basic knowledge of drywall repair and minor carpentry for wall preparation.
