Essential Job Functions

• Prepares various surfaces and applies paints, both acrylic and oil base, enamels, stains, shellac, varnishes or other finishes.
• Performs interior and exterior painting, applying base and finish coats to various surfaces.
• Cleans and maintains equipment, including spray guns, and ensures proper use, repair, and storage of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Erects and works on scaffolding, stages and ladders.
• Works on lifts and bucket trucks at moderate heights above ground.
• Mixes and matches paint for touch-up work.
• Maintains tools and equipment.
• Drive automotive equipment to work sites, which may include combination truck units with trailers of 6,000 pounds gross vehicle weight or over.

Requirements

• This position is restricted to permanent County of Los Angeles employees who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and hold or have held the payroll title of Painter.
• Valid California Class C driver's license

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with parking lot restriping, graffiti removal and repairing and finishing drywall surfaces.
