Painter/Powder Coater/Grinder/Polisher
Department: Fabrication
Reports To: Fabrication Supervisor

A leader in thermal processing solutions is seeking a Painter/Powder Coater/Grinder/Polisher to join their fabrication team in New Columbia, PA.

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify materials requiring grinding and select appropriate grinding tools and grit disks.
- Prepare parts using filler materials to ensure smooth finishes, grinding surfaces for quality finishing.
- Clean parts thoroughly to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Review order documents, assembly details, and part specifications to determine correct paint colors and mix special coatings as required.
- Operate wet spray equipment, including siphon feed pressure pots and diaphragm pumps.
- Apply standard and custom product finishes, ensuring complete and uniform coverage.
- Inspect finished work for defects, making necessary corrections before products move to the next department.
- Maintain and repair spray equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Perform both wet spray painting and powder coating applications.
- Examine and feel surfaces of workpieces to detect imperfections.
- Select and attach appropriate abrasive belts, wheels, or disks based on material specifications.
- Operate grinders to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burrs.
- Polish all weld seams to a seamless finish, ensuring smooth, rounded edges with no sharp corners.
- Perform finishing on stainless steel oven/chamber parts, including interior trays and control units.
- Transport various-sized stainless steel chambers from welding to grinding or finishing areas.
- Replace worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts as needed.





Key Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in grinding, polishing, painting, or powder coating, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in automotive painting is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to measure accurately with a tape measure and square to 1/32", and convert decimals to fractions.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor issues and follow detailed instructions.
- Basic computer skills to access job folders and retrieve paint specifications.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to distinguish stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum materials.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet production deadlines.
- Ability to wear and use a respirator, as required for the role.
- Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, or crawl.
- Frequently lift/move 5-25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, with a moderate noise level.
