Position Summary
The Painter is responsible for performing a variety of skilled painting and surface preparation tasks to maintain and enhance the appearance, safety, and functionality of the MorseLife Health System campus. This role supports a high-quality environment for residents, staff, and visitors by ensuring all painted surfaces meet organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform interior and exterior painting across all MorseLife Health System facilities
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming as needed
Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
Match and mix paint colors to maintain consistency across the facility
Repair damaged surfaces, including drywall, plaster, and wood, before painting
Protect surrounding areas (e.g., furniture, flooring) using drop cloths and masking techniques
Follow established safety procedures, including proper handling and disposal of materials
Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of painting supplies
Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner
Collaborate with maintenance team members on broader facility projects as needed
Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe upon completion
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 2 years of professional painting experience, preferably in a commercial, healthcare, or residential setting
Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and surface preparation methods
Basic understanding of drywall repair and minor carpentry is preferred
Ability to safely operate painting tools and equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
