This role is responsible for inspecting coated products, verifying compliance with customer specifications, and ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process. Candidates must have prior coating inspection experience and be proficient in the use of Dry Film Thickness (DFT) gauges and related inspection equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform quality inspections on coated, painted, plated, and finished metal components.
Measure and verify coating thickness using Dry Film Thickness (DFT) gauges and other inspection equipment.
Inspect coated surfaces for defects, adhesion issues, coverage consistency, and overall finish quality.
Interpret customer specifications, coating requirements, work instructions, and inspection standards.
Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
Work closely with coating, painting, plating, and production teams to ensure product compliance.
Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
Identify non-conforming materials and communicate quality concerns to supervisors and production personnel.
Assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
Maintain productivity and quality standards throughout assigned shifts.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of coating, painting, plating, metal finishing, or related inspection experience preferred.
Experience using DFT gauges and coating inspection equipment required.
Experience in metal manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments preferred.
Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, and quality documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in industrial coating, painting, plating, or metal finishing operations.
Knowledge of coating thickness standards and surface preparation requirements.
Familiarity with ISO, ASTM, customer specifications, or quality standards.
Forklift and/or overhead crane experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive inspection activities.
Ability to work in hot, noisy, and industrial manufacturing environments.
