Presidio is seeking a Firewall Engineer in Richmond, VA that possesses both technical expertise and team leadership. Over the past year, the team has managed a high volume of operational work, including change tasks, incidents, and service requests. This is a hybrid position.
The ideal candidate will take ownership of firewall operations while helping elevate the team’s overall capabilities. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level engineer ready to step into a more impactful role with leadership responsibilities while remaining hands-on in a high-demand network security environment.
This person will be joining a small team of three others in addition to collaborating with Security, Infrastructure, Application and Network Teams. Participating in an on-call rotation is required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day firewall operations and support activities
- Provide guidance and training to junior engineers
- Design and build lab environments for testing and development
- Strengthen Palo Alto firewall support and implement best practices
- Support incident response, troubleshooting, and change management processes
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- VPN technologies (B2B and GlobalProtect)
- Network security troubleshooting
- Incident and change management
