A bit about us:

A growing industrial technology company in the Smyrna, TN area is looking to add a Panel Builder / Control Panel Technician to its team. This is a hands-on shop-based role focused on building, wiring, assembling, and testing industrial electrical control panels.

This is a great fit for someone who takes pride in clean wiring, organized panels, and quality workmanship. The team is not looking for someone who just “makes the wires connect.” They need someone who understands the importance of doing the work correctly, following standards, and building panels the right way.

Why join us?

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a good team, work under an experienced lead technician, and build high-quality panels in a stable shop environment. The company has a great culture and needs someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, coachable, and genuinely cares about doing the work well.

Job Details

You’ll fabricate, assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels using engineering drawings, schematics, layouts, bills of material, and UL508A requirements. The role includes mounting components such as DIN rail, wire duct, terminal blocks, breakers, fuse holders, power supplies, relays, PLC hardware, HMIs, communication devices, transformers, disconnects, and other control components.

You’ll also wire panels according to schematics and wiring diagrams, route and bundle wiring neatly, terminate wires properly, maintain wire color/gauge/labeling standards, and support basic testing and troubleshooting such as continuity checks, voltage checks, control power verification, and panel power-up support.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong hands-on control panel wiring experience
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material
  • Experience wiring clean, organized panels with minimal hand-holding
  • Awareness of UL508A standards and a strong quality mindset
  • Understanding of proper wiring, labeling, termination, grounding, bonding, wire sizing, and overcurrent protection
  • Ability to use panel shop tools such as hand tools, power tools, meters, crimpers, wire strippers, and label makers
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, consistent work
  • Ability to catch mistakes, communicate issues, and keep an organized work area
  • Coachability and willingness to follow standards under the lead technician
  • Team-first attitude and strong culture fit

Nice to have

Experience with water, wastewater, pump systems, process control, PLC hardware, HMIs, VFDs, relays, motor starters, Ethernet devices, communication equipment, panel testing, troubleshooting, field startup, or commissioning would be a plus
