Job Summary

The District reserves the right to close the recruitment regardless of the date or length of the posting period The position works with Preschool aged children (3 and 4 years old) The work hours for this position are 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday (subject to change by the District). The person hired for this position can be either non-bilingual or bilingual in Spanish. If non-bilingual, the person hired will be placed on Range 23. If bilingual in Spanish (must pass bilingual test), the person hired will be placed on Range 24. DEFINITION Under the supervision of the Site Administrator and/or Designee, and direction from the School Readiness Administrator, assists classroom teacher by providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment and provides instructional support. This position will be assigned to various students and schools on an as needed basis. Provides instructional support and perform clerical duties as assigned. Translates, writes, and converses in a language other than English for parents and teachers as required. Perform related work as necessary or required.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires that you have at least 12 Early Childhood Education or Child Development units from an accredited college. The 3 core classes must be included in the 12 units : Child Growth & Development (CGD), Child & Youth, Family and Community (CFC), Curriculum (CUR). This position requires that you have at least one of the following: 1) An Associate of Arts degree or higher 2) Have completed at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum of 48 general education units. 3) Have passed an approved Highly Qualified assessment test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching, reading, writing and mathematics. (This is in addition to the required Para-Educator test)

REQUIRED POSITION SPECIFIC TESTING BY APPOINTMENT ONLY: This position requires passage of a written test (Para-Educator) by 9/9/26. If you would like to be considered for the bilingual range (Range 24) you must pass a second test (Bilingual/Spanish). You will be contacted by Human Resources regarding testing a date and time. Testing will be held on the following dates and times: 8/28 @ 9:00 am; 9/1 @ 9:00 am; 9/3 @ 9:00 am; 9/3 @ 2:00 pm; 9/8 @ 9:00 am; 9/8 @ 2:00 pm; and 9/9 @ 9:00 am. The written test will be held at the Magnolia School District Office (2705 W. Orange Ave., Anaheim, CA 92804).

• Copy of Transcript (Transcripts must show at least 48 units, 12 of which must be in ECE. The 3 core classes must be included in the 12 ECE units : Child Growth & Development (CGD), Child & Youth, Family and Community (CFC), Curriculum (CUR).)

SALARY INFORMATION All newly hired employees will start at the beginning rate of pay for the position they are being hired for ($21.97 per hour for Para-Ed/ECE), but the District does provide past experience credit to provide employees a higher salary. The District will provide one (1) year of credit for every completed year of experience with the same or closely related job duties working for a public school district. The District will also provide one (1) year of credit for every two (2) completed years of experience with the same of closely related job duties working for a non-school district employer or private/non-public education employer. If hired, and you have past experience in this position, you will complete our Verification of Experience (VOE) form. The VOE form will be sent to your past employer(s) and once they are completed and returned, the District will review the years of experience and provide service credit as stated above. This will be effective on the most recent pay cycle (not retroactive to the first day of employment).
