The Pecatonica Area School District, located in the corners of Dane, Iowa, Lafayette, and Green Counties, is seeking an innovative and dynamic special education paraprofessional. The position will be for approximately 7.5 hours daily, Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist teachers with instruction, support, and charting goals and objectives of the IEP.

• Assist the teacher with devising special strategies for reinforcing skills based on an understanding of individual students and their needs, interests, and abilities.

• Clearly communicate with teachers and staff regarding students and their needs.

• Assist with supervision of students outside of classrooms, including, but not limited to, hallways, lunchroom, recess/playground, field trips, media center, and emergency drills.

• Provide clerical, record keeping, or other documentation needs related to students.

• Assist students with personal needs and cares as necessary and appropriate, such as toileting, clothing, and programs/training.

• Assist the teacher with preparing learning materials and lessons.

• Guide independent study, work time, enrichment, and reinforcement/remedial instruction.

• Work with individual, small groups, and large groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, principal, and/or Director of Special Education.
