The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Paralegal 1 (H) to work in Miami, FL. The Paralegal provides support for a variety of law-related activities that do not require a law degree, including legal or factual research, contract administration, document preparation and analysis, citation checking and trial preparation. Conducts legal research, drafts legal documents and performs a variety of law-related tasks.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Gathers, analyzes, and researches law sources, such as statutes, legislation, recorded judicial opinions, case law, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.

  • Prepares, reviews, and edits legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, licensing agreements, purchase contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation, letters of intent, buy-sell agreements, leases, closing papers, and other relevant documentation.

  • Develops and maintains files, databases and systems to collect, store and retrieve data on litigation, union contracts, patent management, etc.

  • May coordinate litigation support, prepares responses to interrogatories and requests for production, and coordinates responses to subpoenas.

  • Investigates facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and prepare cases.

  • May schedule witness appearances for legal proceedings.

  • Assists in scheduling logistics for meetings and travel.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
