A successful candidate will demonstrate high emotional intelligence and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.Responsibilities: The selected candidate will provide general paralegal support to the Newport News Shipbuilding division of Huntington Ingalls Incorporated. Strong project management skills are essential, as the candidate must be able to juggle multiple assignments and communicate – both orally and written – with internal and external stakeholders.Support may includeManage NNS Law Department financial activities, including budgeting and forecasting, expenditure tracking, billing, etc. Provide regular reports and metrics, measuring performance against budget. Collect and communicate financial information within and outside the Law Department.Assist with business operations oversight of the Law Department's vendor and outside counsel relations, including vendor rates, billing, tracking, and reporting expenses, etc. Working with legal staff and company procurement personnel to assist in the selection of vendors, establish performance and billing guidelines, and identify and resolve vendor relationship issues, etc.Perform legal research; reviewing and analyzing changes in federal law and regulations; performing initial review for attorneys on drafts and other documents.Assist attorneys in the preparation of presentations, reports, correspondence, and executive-level summaries.The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to perform research on complex legal questions and factual issues using internal and external resources. The job requires engagement in a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to those calling for judgment and independent initiative.Candidate must be knowledgeable and experienced with the Microsoft Office suite of products and ability to learn and incorporate new technologies.Conducts research and resolves routine legal questions under the direction of an attorney on a level between the attorney and the legal secretary. Engages in a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to those calling for judgment and independent initiative. Provides research and support activity and counsel and advises company personnel on routine matters.Prepares agreements, instruments, documents, and pleadings relating to litigation and non‑litigation matters. May represent the company on matters of a general nature before courts, administrative tribunals, and officers.
