Position summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced mid-level Labor and Employment Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This individual will:
- Play a pivotal role in supporting attorneys in labor and employment-related matters
- Assist with case management
- Support the efficient operation of the legal department
The ideal candidate will have:

Job duties and responsibilities
- Organize and manage discovery files
- Schedule depositions and prepare deposition materials and exhibits
- Coordinate expert witness preparation and involvement
- Draft and prepare:
- Litigation pleadings
- Discovery responses
- Motions
- Other legal documents under attorney supervision
- Utilize litigation databases and case management software (e.g., Relativity)
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets
- Provide trial preparation support, including:
- Organizing exhibits
- Preparing trial binders
- Attending trials to assist attorneys
- Work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients
- Apply strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules, including Federal and Georgia State rules
- Utilize knowledge of Georgia State and Federal court rules and electronic filing platforms (e.g., Odyssey)
- Ensure strong writing and proofreading of legal documents
- Perform legal fact-checking and citation verification, including Bluebook citation style

Requirements
Education:
- Undergraduate degree and paralegal certificate required
- Will consider candidates with comparable relevant legal experience in lieu of degree or certification
Experience:
- 4–6 years of litigation experience required
Skills:
- Strong case management skills from inception through resolution
- Ability to obtain, review, summarize, and index case records and documents
- Experience preparing and serving subpoenas and managing discovery processes
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to use independent judgment and adapt to changing work situations

Essential job functions:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring prolonged use of hands, fingers, and wrists

- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed
Working conditions:
You will be required to work in the office at minimum 4 days per week. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. The details of your weekly schedule will be discussed further with your direct supervisor.
Pay ranges
This represents the presently anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith's pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including location and experience.
This is a non-exempt position. The hourly wage range for this role is $37.50 to $46.34, with an estimated annual compensation range of $78,000 to $96,400, based on expected hours.
