POSITION TITLE: PARALEGAL - BOARD RELATIONS
DEPARTMENT: LAW & LEGAL
- POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required; paralegal certificate is plus
- Prior business experience
- Comfort applying AI tools responsibly to support daily work tasks
- Knowledge of securities and mutual fund products is a plus
- Proficient with Windows/PC operating systems and standard business applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe
- Willingness and ability to utilize and adapt artificial intelligence tools to promote efficiency and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, regulators, vendors, and all levels of staff
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, professional approach to working independently or part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing deadlines, and maintain quality under pressure
- Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and sound analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven discretion and judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
MAJOR DUTIES:
Provide Paralegal services to legal counsel, the firm's domestic and offshore mutual funds and operating companies, as well as certain internal committees to meet regulatory and business requirements.
- Provide Board-related support for Federated Hermes' domestic and offshore mutual funds and operating companies, as well as certain internal committees. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Planning and attending pre- and post-meetings related to board and committee meetings
- Tracking regulatory and special agenda items
- Drafting agendas and providing reference materials to the board or committees for meetings
- Coordinating annual questionnaires related to Fitness and Probity requirements imposed by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK and providing ongoing maintenance support to ensure compliance with Fitness and Probity Standards.
- Coordinating annual audits with Irish auditors and assisting with production of documents
- Attending meetings and assisting with the drafting of minutes
- Preparing unanimous consents of the board
- Assisting with maintenance and updating of contracts, as necessary
- Conducting general and historical research
- Provide paralegal support for private fund matters
- Coordinate KYC information requests and related documentation in support of client onboarding, vendor due diligence, and regulatory compliance
- Serve as a subject-matter consultant to the Paralegal group on procedural, policy, and substantive issues related to offshore mutual funds
- Use AI tools to support data analysis, workflow automation, and efficiency improvements relevant to the role
- Perform special projects and other duties assigned
- Advocate and resolve issues with regulators and clients, as appropriate
- Coordinate with and provide paralegal services to legal staff, outside counsel and clients
- Serve as liaison with other departments, outside counsel and clients
HOURS/LOCATION:
- 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (overtime as required)
- Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Warrendale, PA (hybrid in-office work schedule)
