Careerscape is hiring a part-time Paralegal on behalf of our client, a well-established litigation and corporate law firm located in Boston's Financial District. This role supports attorneys across practice areas including civil litigation, contract review, and general corporate matters. The position averages 20–25 hours per week with consistent scheduling.
Day-to-day work includes legal research, document drafting, case file management, and coordination of court filings. The firm uses iManage for document management and requires comfort with both Massachusetts state courts and federal district court e-filing procedures. The work environment is structured and deadline-driven, with direct support assigned to two to three attorneys.
This is a good fit for a paralegal with two or more years of firm experience who wants a predictable part-time schedule without sacrificing substantive legal work. The firm offers mentorship from senior attorneys and exposure to a varied caseload.
Responsibilities
- Draft and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw and LexisNexis and prepare written summaries
- Manage and organize case files within iManage document management system
- File documents with Massachusetts state courts and federal district courts via e-filing portals
- Coordinate scheduling for depositions, hearings, and client meetings
- Review and summarize deposition transcripts, medical records, and discovery materials
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation including exhibit organization and witness binders
- Track case deadlines and maintain litigation calendars
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience in a law firm environment
- Proficiency with Westlaw or LexisNexis for legal research
- Familiarity with Massachusetts state court rules and federal court e-filing systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Experience using document management software such as iManage or NetDocuments
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize workload independently
- Paralegal certification through NALA or NFPA preferred
