Responsibilities:

Summary:

The Boston office of national law firm Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., is seeking an entry-level or junior paralegal to assist its growing Litigation and Employment practices in Boston and nationally. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with a team-first mentality who has experience with and/or an aptitude for learning and helping to implement new legal artificial intelligence technologies such as Claude, Harvey, Co-Counsel, ChatGPT, etc. Other tasks will include conducting legal research and compiling data from a variety of reference sources, document organization and/or retrieval, and preparing court filings. The workload will vary based on client needs and Firm assignments. Experience or a strong interest in litigation and/or employment law is helpful. Recent college graduates considering law school in 2+ years are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform statutory, regulatory, and factual legal research under attorney supervision.
  • Summarize depositions; prepare witness binders; organize and control deposition exhibits.
  • Proofread prepared documents; cite check, shepardize, and “bluebook” citations.
  • Draft and assist with preparations of legal documents including but not limited to memoranda, complaints, answers, subpoenas, motions, written discovery, and notices of appeal.
  • Prepare electronically file legal documents in state and federal courts through ECF systems, ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines, monitor dockets and case updates, maintain filing records.
  • Conduct file searches and assist with document review and various other tasks related to producing electronic and hard copy documents.
  • Assemble and organize factual material in preparation for depositions, trials and hearings; organize and control trial exhibits.
  • Review and organize documents to be filed with state or federal courts as well as government or administrative agencies; conduct filings.
  • Flexibility with providing support to other practice areas across multiple office locations.
  • Assist with Firm administrative projects as needed.

Education Required:

  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience Required:

  • No prior paralegal experience required.
  • Prior internships, work experience, coursework, or extracurricular activities demonstrating strong research, writing, analytical, organizational, or administrative skills are preferred.
  • Interest in the legal profession, litigation, employment law, or future attendance at law school is strongly preferred.
  • Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.

Skills Required:

  • Experience with and/or an aptitude for learning and implementing legal artificial intelligence platforms such as Claude, Harvey, Co-Counsel, ChatGPT, etc.
  • Understanding of or a willingness to learn legal concepts, terminology, principles and procedures, and possess knowledge of legal reference materials
  • Outstanding organization, administrative, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of or a willingness to learn state and federal rules
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Flexibility for overtime

 

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Qualifications:

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained. Market and Firm factors are also considered. In addition to the base salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
