A nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a new Paralegal to join its growing Criminal Defense / Discovery Unit in Brooklyn.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9 am to 5 pm (35-hour work week)
Responsibilities:
- Processing receipt of discovery materials and certificates from the prosecution
- Reviewing discovery materials for completion and compliance
- Tagging and updating evidence items and metadata
- Ensuring accurate data entry into LawManager
- Liaising with Attorneys and court staff to ensure discovery file compliance
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of relevant work experience
- High School Diploma / GED
- Computer savvy
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs
- E-file experience desirable
- Experience with electronic discovery
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Knowledge of NYS Criminal Law
- E-file experience
