    BHE Renewables delivers sustainable energy solutions for customers and communities. We own, operate and develop wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and natural gas projects in 11 U.S. states. The power generated is sold into energy markets or directly to customers through long-term purchase agreements.

    Headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, BHE Renewables is an innovative and growing company with new offices in Phoenix and San Diego. Our 50/50 joint venture with Occidental Petroleum has led to a demonstration project showing how TerraLithium technology is used to extract lithium from the brine presently flowing through our geothermal plants in Imperial Valley, CA.

BHE Renewables has an exciting career opportunity available for a paralegal to join a dynamic legal team that supports BHE Renewables solar, wind, geothermal and storage businesses.

    • Bachelor's degree or six years work experience as a paralegal
    • Certified paralegals will be given preference
    • Work experience in energy preferred
    • Previous experience in employment or real estate preferred
    • Demonstrated understanding of basic legal terms, proficiency in legal internet research tools
    • Strong organizational skills, particularly working with document control. Strong personal computer skills; proficient in Word and Excel
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of company information
    • Ability to build relationships with a variety of employees and non-employees
    • Ability to obtain information despite real or perceived impediments

    • Assist in obtaining and review due diligence materials including title reports, liens, local, state and federal permits including special use permits
    • Perform legal and business research and communicate findings in memoranda; create electronic resource libraries as needed
    • Collect, review and organize information and/or documents; create procedures for collection and storage of information; create procedures for law department or corporate practices; analyze or derive statistical or other mathematical data
    • Draft and revise agreements including confidentiality agreements and procurement agreements, filings and other documents subject to an attorney's final approval
    • Monitor developments in BHE Renewables pending cases, filings and transactions; report to attorneys and management as necessary
    • Draft periodic legal reports and summaries for management; create, maintain and update charts of legal activities and expenses
    • Create and maintain paper and electronic files for transactions, trademarks, litigation and other matters
    • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
