Choose Duke.DUMAC, Inc., a nonprofit organization that manages Duke University's endowment assets, is seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal to support its legal, compliance, and corporate governance functions.This role supports DUMAC's Chief Legal Officer and in-house counsel while partnering with internal teams and external counterparties to manage legal documentation, support investment-related workflows, and assist with regulatory and compliance processes.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.Broad general knowledge in the legal and/or medical field.Preferred Associate Degree in NC Paralegal Studies and broad general knowledge in the legal field.ExperiencePreferred: Two years working in related field.What You'll DoCoordinate workflows across legal, investment, engineering and operations teams.Support preparation, review, and management of internal reports, contracts, agreements, and transactional documents.Organize and manage documentation review process from drafting through execution while monitoring key contractual terms.Maintain document management systems, ensuring proper organization, data integrity and version control.Assist with operational due diligence on investment managers and transactions.Maintain organized records of legal, compliance, and governance documentation (e.g., entity documents, resolutions, signatories, wire instructions, checklists).Assist with drafting policies, procedures, and training materials.Support compliance program activities and related training, including policy adherence and periodic reporting (e.g., employee trading reports).Assist with maintaining and monitoring compliance processes (e.g., restricted lists, investment approvals, monitoring/testing).Respond to KYC/AML due diligence requests related to investments and account/market openings, including coordinating documentation and interfacing with internal teams and counterparties.Maintain documentation and support interactions with counterparties (e.g., custodians, prime brokers, outside counsel, regulatory bodies).Track key terms, authorizations, and account-related materials.Coordinate scheduling and logistics for Board and support corporation meetings.Handle sensitive and confidential information, including PII, in accordance with policies.Preferred Qualifications and SkillsParalegal certification or equivalent experience preferred.2+ years of relevant experience preferred (law firm, financial services, or in-house legal/compliance).Strong organization, attention to detail, and analytical skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to leverage emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve workflows, enhance efficiency, and support continuous process improvement.Exposure to investment management or regulatory frameworks (e.g., Investment Advisers Act).Experience with derivatives documentation (e.g., ISDAs).Familiarity with compliance or corporate governance processes.Pay Range and BenefitsAnticipated Pay Range: Annual base salary range USD $61,535.00 to USD $95,880.00.Your total compensation goes beyond the dollars on your paycheck.
