Designed with our employees' needs in mind, while facilitating in-person connections and collaborative activities when meaningful and valuable, our hybrid model provides a high level of flexibility and autonomy, requiring in-office attendance only once a week at our Irvine office.ResponsibilitiesDrafting legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directedProviding legal support such as legal and documentary researchMonitoring and adhering to case schedules and filing deadlinesConducting interviews, summarizing depositions, reviewing discovery responses and medical recordsPreparing discovery requests and responsesSubpoenaing, collecting and organizing records from non-partiesScheduling Surveillance, Compulsory Medical Exams, and Site InspectionsAssisting in trial preparationResponding to inquiries from and interacting with customers, clients, counsel, and witnessesOrganizing and maintaining case files and documentation, electronicallyContributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as neededCollaborating with attorneys, staff, claims professionals and leadership to accomplish successful business and litigation outcomes.Basic QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support areaORAssociate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal Support areaANDExperience conducting electronic database researchExperience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadingsExperience in legal supportExperience with Microsoft OfficeAdditional Requirements for California OnlyParalegals must meet one of the following requirements:Have a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved programHave a certificate from an accredited paralegal program with at least 24 semester units of law-related coursesHave a bachelor's degree or higher and one year of law-related experience under the supervision of a California-licensed attorney who has been practicing for the past three years (or an attorney who's practiced in California federal courts for the past three years)Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree or Paralegal CertificateDefense experienceInsurance industry experienceAbility to effectively conduct electronic database research, including Lexus NexisComfortable working in a paperless work environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to effectively draft legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadingsStrong Microsoft Office and technical skillsFamiliarity with litigation management software systemsTrial experience, including preparing trial exhibits and witnessesExperience filing with the California Courts E‑filing system.Familiarity with California Rules of Civil Procedure and local RulesExperience navigating Clerk, Court and Judicial websitesCompensationYour pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience.
