Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a high-volume caseload through all stages of litigation, including trial
- Provide direction, oversight, and support to junior litigation staff, ensuring quality and consistency of work
- Assist with discovery, including document production, privilege logs, and deposition preparation
- Coordinate with expert witnesses and manage expert file materials
- Review medical records and coordinate expert examinations
- Maintain case files, pleadings, exhibit lists, and litigation calendars
- Drive trial preparation including drafting trial pleadings, and in-person trial attendance as needed
- Communicate with clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and government agencies as directed by attorneys
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an environmental or mass tort litigation paralegal
- Working knowledge of California environmental regulatory bodies and processes (Cal/OSHA, DTSC, SCAQMD, OEHHA, EPA, or similar)
- Experience drafting or processing CPRA/FOIA requests strongly preferred
- Familiarity with California civil procedure and discovery rules (CCP)
- Experience filing in State, Federal, and Appellate Courts preferred
- Proficiency with case management and e-discovery software
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Familiarity with expert discovery and scientific/technical documents
- Prior experience at a plaintiff-side litigation firm is preferred
- Spanish speaking is a plus
