ParalegalSupports the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Santa Ana, CA within the Litigation Support Team.ResponsibilitiesWork under direction of Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor;Perform tasks in compliance with established procedures;Compile, prepare, and summarize materials for attorneys in discovery, and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents;Summarize depositions and transcripts; maintain case files;Perform simple legal research; index, track and control document discovery (including documents produced and received);Index, track and exhibit materials at depositions and trial;Prepare exhibit cross‑references;Assist attorneys in courtroom; review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria;Compile documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc.Basic QualificationsParalegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study;At least one year of litigation paralegal or project experience;Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation and memoranda;Proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw;Familiarity with a variety of computer applications: word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware;Basic familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources;U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.Preferred QualificationsExperience in a government or litigation support environment;Trial experience;Experience with Relativity or similar applications;Automated litigation support experience;Current or active clearance.CompensationHourly rate: $24.49 per hour.EEO StatementAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
