The Senior Paralegal provides high-level litigation and claims support to the Risk Management Department, claims adjusters, and defense counsel. This role is responsible for managing claims litigation matters, coordinating and administering discovery responses, preparing and reviewing legal documents, supporting litigation strategy, and serving as a key liaison between defense counsel and internal business stakeholders. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This individual is driven to support the efficient resolution of litigation matters and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
This role starts at $39.00 per hour, commensurate of experience.
What You'll Do:
Organize and manage a claims litigation portfolio, including coordinating with outside counsel and claims adjusters.
Coordinate the collection, preservation, and production of documents and other electronically stored information (ESI).
Manage litigation holds and document retention requirements.
Review discovery responses for completeness and accuracy.
Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders and outside counsel, coordinating communications, document collection, approvals, and status updates.
Coordinate litigation matters from intake through resolution, including maintaining matter files, tracking deadlines, organizing supporting documentation, and following up on action items.
Support attorneys and outside counsel with trial preparation, witness coordination, and document management.
Monitor and improve legal department workflows, templates, trackers, and standard operating procedures to promote consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
Coordinate with outside legal bill reviewers to assist with matter management, invoice processing, and reporting using legal operations tools and systems.
Prepare and review litigation reports tracking the status of legacy and high-exposure cases.
Analyze litigation trends and recommend process improvements.
Handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of discretion and professionalism.
Mentor and supervise junior paralegals and legal support staff, helping establish best practices across the team when appropriate.
Perform other legal and operational support duties as assigned.
What We're Looking for:
Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
Typically 7+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or similarly complex legal environment.
Demonstrated experience supporting complex litigation and other legal matters.
Strong legal research, writing, proofreading, organizational, and document management skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple deadlines.
Experience with claims litigation, insurance defense, and managing outside counsel relationships preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with attorneys, executives, and cross-functional business teams.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and legal technology tools, including document management, e-billing, matter management, and legal research platforms.
Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
