Paralegal – Trusts and EstatesLocation: Bantam, Hartford or Stamford, CT (Hybrid)Harris Beach Murtha is hiring a Paralegal to join our Trusts & Estates practice group in one of the three offices. Candidates should have experience in trust and estate matters and be able to support attorneys with planning and administration work.Qualifications1+ years of experience as a trusts and estates paralegal (3+ years preferred)Experience preparing court filings, estate and fiduciary accountings, and tax returns (including Forms 1041, 706, and related Connecticut forms)Experience with Connecticut Probate Court filings (New York experience a plus)Ability to assist with estate administration, including asset inventory, valuation, distribution, and probate documentationStrong organizational, analytical, and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy of legal documentsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environmentExceptional oral and written communication skills, client‑focusedProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with fiduciary income tax preparation and fiduciary accounting software a plusPositive, professional attitude when working with colleagues and clientsNotary Public license (or willingness to obtain one after hire)ResponsibilitiesDraft and finalize estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, in accordance with attorney directionPrepare and file probate documents, fiduciary accountings, and related court filingsAssist with estate and trust administration, including asset tracking, funding, and beneficiary communicationsConduct legal research related to trusts, estates, tax regulations, and case lawCommunicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and respond to inquiriesOrganize and maintain physical and electronic files for accessibility and accuracySupport attorneys with case management and day‑to‑day administrative needsPerform additional duties as assignedAttributesStrong interpersonal skills and professionalism with clients and colleaguesDetail‑oriented and pride in producing accurate, high‑quality workSeeking an opportunity with growth potentialBelief in the firm's core values: collaboration, inclusion, ingenuity, respect, integrity, and commitmentEnjoy working with diverse personalities across all levels of the firmComfortable working in the office 3 days per weekHarris Beach Murtha is committed to an inclusive environment and welcomes applications from diverse candidates with varied background and skills, including military experience.
