Overview

Full Time Position

24 hour shift

Under the direction of the Program Manager and Flight Surgeon/Medical Director the CCFP is accountable for responding to all assigned calls in the most appropriate and efficient manner, providing high standards of patient care while ensuring a safe and hazard free environment. The critical care flight paramedic contributes to overall patient care in areas of patient assessment, treatment, packaging and transport. This position interacts throughout the facility internally, and with patients and their families externally. In addition, this position interacts with various first response agencies and health-care providers, physicians and hospital personnel externally. As a member of an academic flight program, crew members take an active role in outreach educational initiatives including but not limited to: outreach education to EMS, as well as education and resource performance improvement for Trauma Service Area agencies.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED. Specific course work: Within six months of hire or transfer: Advanced Trauma Life Support course Audit, FEMA IS 100, FEMA IS 200 and Air Medical Crew Curriculum Certification in accordance with Florida Administrative Code.

Preferred Education: Associate of Science Degree

Necessary Skills:

  1. Ability to learn and adapt to new equipment.

  2. Ability to work in highly stressful situation.

  3. Provide leadership/incident command level authority at emergency scenes in conjunction with other agencies.

  4. Customer relations and organization skills are essential.

  5. Adheres to Hospital Policy, and the Florida Department of Emergency Medical Services guidelines in providing patient care.

  6. Familiar with Advanced Life Support patient care equipment.

  7. Education/Instruction of EMS agencies throughout the Trauma Service Area.

  8. Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to cardiac, pulmonary, renal and neurological systems.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

  • Florida Paramedic License
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association
  • PALS from the American Heart Association
  • FP-C or CCP-C within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications:

  • National Registry Paramedic
  • ACLS Instructor
  • PALS Instructor
  • PHTLS -Emergency Pediatric Care

Required Experience: 3-5 years Field experience in an active Emergency Medical Service or hospital

Preferred Experience: Over 5 years field experience in an active 911 Emergency Medical Service
