An employee in this class performs skilled and technical work in operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and administering appropriate emergency medical care to patients on-site and while in route to hospital. : - Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing advanced life support (ALS) care and patient transport - Deliver emergency medical treatment and ensure safe, efficient patient care in the field - Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training to stay current with protocols and procedures - Complete accurate and timely documentation, including trip and patient care reports - Inspect, clean, stock, and maintain ambulances, equipment, and EMS facilities - Provide training support and public education on EMS and emergency preparedness as needed - Assist other emergency service personnel and perform additional duties as assigned : Must possess a valid Class C driver's license Graduation from high school and some experience as an EMT Paramedic or equivalent combination of experience Possession of a North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification Possession of North Carolina Hazardous Material Level I certification Possession of North Carolina Emergency Vehicle Driver certification Possession of ACLS, PALS or PEEP, BCLS, ITLS certifications Possession of a valid North Carolina Class C drivers license : Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate mobile equipment, monitor work site progress, and use measurement devices.
