Job Summary

The Paramedic Technician functions semi-independently, under the direction of the Physician, RN, and/or PA-C, as part of the integrated healthcare team. Responsible for providing comprehensive quality patient care in an accurate and timely manner according to established patient standards and practice. Knowledge and necessary skills will be utilized to effectively meet the needs of patients of all age groups and developmental levels 2.Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Requires the ability to effectively plan; must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Requires enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to work independently/cooperatively with other personnel. Requires the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Responsibilities

  • Provides timely, safe and accurate reassessment of ED patients.
  • Provides timely, safe and accurate implementation of applicable technical skills/procedures per ADHS guidelines.
  • Ensures timely and correct patient flow, utilizing internal and external resources.
  • Effectively supports system, facility and department goals and objectives, mission, vision, and values through appropriate use of interpersonal skills and job performance.
  • Demonstrates well-defined organizational and time-management skills.

Qualifications

  • Special Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write, follow instructions and document care given in English.

  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the entire aging process.

  • Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

  • Graduate of an EMT-P training course approved under Arizona 9 A.A.C. 25, Articles 2, 4, and 5 are required. Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment.

  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the ability to assess data and identify patients' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required. Splinting, EKG and Chest Tube competencies, as well as all other department check off lists must be completed within three months of hire. Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment.

  • Licensure/Certifications:

  • ADHS Paramedic Certification or Arizona State Certified, BLS and ACLS.

  • PALS within 9 months of hire.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous work experience in an Emergency Room.
  • Certification/registration: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Basic and Advanced Trauma Life Support. National Licensure by the NREMT Board.
