Job Summary
The Paramedic - Ambulance is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and technical support for individuals of all age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This role collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver efficient, compassionate, and patient-centered care. The Paramedic is skilled in emergency response, patient assessment, and therapeutic interventions, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and standards of care.
Essential Functions
Performs patient care tasks in a safe, effective, and competent manner, adhering to established standards of care and hospital policies.
Coordinates patient care with registered nurses (RNs) and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
Recognizes changes in patient status, promptly communicates observations to the RN, and assists in implementing appropriate interventions.
Completes accurate and timely documentation to ensure a clear record of the care provided.
Maintains professional communication with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families, ensuring clarity and empathy in all interactions.
Safely administers medications in compliance with the five rights of medication administration, utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) scanning to ensure accuracy.
Facilitates efficient patient throughput within the department, contributing to overall operational effectiveness.
Provides rapid and effective response during emergencies, utilizing advanced life support techniques and medical interventions as required.
Operates and maintains medical equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness and functionality for patient care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Technical School graduate of an accredited program in Paramedic Science with current state of employment license/certification required.
0-1 years of EMT-P experience required.
1-2 years of acute care hospital experience preferred.
