Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality bedside patient care across multiple hospital units, including Inpatient, Outpatient, Pre-Post, PACU, Emergency Department, ED, and Infusion services. • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within scope of Paramedic Specialist practice. • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges in coordination with nursing and medical teams. • Respond promptly to emergency situations using advanced clinical skills to stabilize and support patients. • Monitor patient conditions and communicate findings effectively to the interdisciplinary team. • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC), ensuring timely and clear charting of all care provided. • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and adherence to individualized care plans. • Participate in the development and implementation of patient care protocols and safety measures. • Maintain required certifications and actively pursue continuing education to remain current in clinical practice. • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to support patients, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. • Practice in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures of the State of Iowa and the healthcare organization. • Provide mentoring or orientation support to new staff or students as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Paramedic Specialist Certification Required • Graduate from an accredited school • Current certification in the state of Iowa • Ability to read, write, and speak English • 3 yrs of experience preferred • BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP, & TNCC - preferred and required per certification after hire if not already certified • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, priority setting, problem solving, and organizational skills • Possess adequate computer knowledge and skills - not limited to the following: Word, Excel, EPIC preferred • Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, educational, and lifestyle backgrounds
