Job Summary Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (36 hours)

Position Summary At Baylor Scott and White Sunnyvale, the Paramedic provides direct patient care within the Emergency Department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. This role supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality care to patients of all ages, primarily adults and geriatrics, with occasional care provided to pediatric and neonatal populations. The Paramedic performs approved clinical procedures within scope of practice and assists the healthcare team in delivering comprehensive emergency care at Baylor Scott and White Sunnyvale.

Responsibilities • Provides supportive and direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician at Baylor Scott and White Sunnyvale. • Fast-paced Emergency Department environment at Baylor Scott and White Sunnyvale. • Assists with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments. • Performs technical skills within scope of practice, including IV insertion, venipuncture, EKG interpretation, and point-of-care laboratory testing. • Assists with procedures such as splinting, casting, dressing changes, and crutch walking instruction. • Recognizes and promptly reports patient condition changes to the Registered Nurse. • Documents all patient care activities accurately, including vital signs, bedside care, and observations. • Ensures patient safety by adhering to hospital policies, standard precautions, and safety regulations. • Maintains patient comfort, privacy, and dignity at all times. • Assists patients with transfers from vehicles to wheelchairs or stretchers as needed. • Prepares and maintains treatment rooms and equipment between patients and procedures. • Monitors, stocks, and restocks supplies to maintain departmental readiness. • Transports patients, specimens, and supplies as required. • Responds promptly and professionally to patient, visitor, and staff inquiries. • Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement initiatives. • Supports cost containment efforts through appropriate use of supplies and equipment. • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the mission of Baylor Scott and White Sunnyvale.

Professional Responsibilities • Reports to work on time and adheres to assigned schedules, including weekends as required. • Maintains compliance with all annual education and regulatory requirements. • Attends required in-services and staff meetings. • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to dress code standards. • Demonstrates effective communication skills and professionalism at all times. • Upholds the mission, ethics, and goals of Baylor Scott and White Sunnyvale. • Utilizes electronic timekeeping and documentation systems appropriately.

Qualifications

Education & Certification: • Completion of an accredited Paramedic training program • Current Paramedic certification • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Knowledge & Skills: • Knowledge of medical terminology • Proficient in EKG interpretation • Basic computer skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages preferred) • Ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
