Position: Paraprofessional #125-GSRP Assistant

Location: Lamphere Early Childhood Center

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30a.m.-4p.m.

Compensation: $17.75-$20.00 per hour based on education and experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School degree
  • Must have a child development associate (CDA) credential or have an associate or baccalaureate degree or be enrolled in a program leading to such degree
  • Demonstrated aptitude necessary to perform the required tasks
  • Willingness to participate the staff development program
  • Current child/adult CPR certification and current certification in Standard First Aid
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to withstand the strain of the position
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities:

Will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Under the supervision of the Director and guidance of the Coordinator implements classroom and playground activities, consistent with the Lamphere Learning Ladder curriculum and prepared lesson plans
  • Supervises children and maintains a harmonious atmosphere
  • Meets the needs of individual children in conjunction with implementation of the lesson plans
  • Treats each child with dignity and respect
  • Helps each child to be successful
  • Assists with meals, snacks and clean up routines
  • Assists with wash up, toilet routines and clothing needs
  • Performs student record-keeping, (i.e., food counts, attendance, observations, records, child assessments)
  • Assists in preparing center and classroom displays and bulletin boards, room arrangement and the learning environment, consistent with the Lamphere Learning Ladder curriculum
  • Cares for equipment, maintains a safe environment for children
  • Participates in Lamphere Learning Ladder staff meetings and staff development training programs
  • Establishes a positive relationship with parents
  • Works cooperatively with school and Learning Ladder staff
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Other responsibilities as deemed reasonable and necessary by the Director

Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189.

Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position.

Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential.
