POSITION: Paraprofessional

START DATE: 2026-2027 School Year

SALARY: Paraprofessional salary based on experience and degree under the Class I Para contract Group. Salary schedule can be found on the district website:

Qualifications:

  • In order to meet the paraprofessional job qualifications, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Associate Degree or higher

  • Completion of 60 credit hours with a âC' or better

  • Passing test score on the ParaPro or Para Pathways Assessment & official high school transcript or GED equivalency

  • In order to meet the Office of Early Learning state requirements you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • 6 ECE college credits

  • 120 hours of approved training through the Office of Early Learning or the Office of Childcare Licensing

  • 240 hours working with children birth through age 5 in a group setting

  • Must apply for an Early Childhood Assistant certificate in DEEDS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience working with children in varied settings; preferred

  • Working knowledge of behavior management procedures; preferred

  • Knowledge of accommodations for special education students; preferred

  • Clean Criminal Background, Child Protective Registry Check, and TB test results required prior to employment

Responsibilities:

  • May be responsible for diapering, toileting, feeding and/or positioning students in this Para Class I position
  • Utilize knowledge of the social, emotional, medical, and academic needs of individual students obtained through collaboration with teacher and/or specialist
  • Collaborate with the teacher, paraprofessionals and/or related services providers about the plans and implementation of activities and resources for the students
  • Understand and implement the student's IEP (Individual Education Program) goals and objectives, as well as any accommodations to ensure the student's success
  • Provide 1:1 or group support to students as needed
  • Work with students in variety of ways, which may include an individual, small group, or whole group settings
  • Assist in ongoing monitoring of student progress which may include assessments, data collection and computer work
  • Support in maintaining student discipline using behavior management plan as directed by classroom teacher
  • Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students
