Position Overview
The Paraprofessional provides direct support to students receiving special education services and helps ensure the effective implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This role works closely with teachers, service providers, and school staff to promote student learning, independence, and positive behavior. Responsibilities include supporting instruction, assisting with behavior intervention plans, documenting student progress, and contributing to IEP processes and problem‑solving teams.
Key Responsibilities
-Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs to ensure students receive appropriate services.
-Provide individualized academic and behavioral support aligned with student needs.
-Assist in integrating technology and learning resources to enhance student engagement and critical thinking.
-Monitor, document, and communicate student progress in accordance with district policies.
-Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment across classroom and non‑classroom settings.
-Collaborate with teachers, specialists, families, and community partners to support student success.
-Participate in professional learning communities to strengthen instructional and assessment practices.
-Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
-Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-Passing score on a state‑approved paraprofessional assessment or a Bachelor’s degree (official transcript required).
- Experience working with children, ideally in an educational environment.
-Understanding of special education practices and instructional strategies.
-Proficiency with computers and multimedia tools used to support instruction.
-Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and families.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills.
