This Paraprofessional supports students who may need assistance with communication, behavior regulation, sensory needs, social skills, and structured academic instruction. Students may use AAC devices, PECS, visual schedules, prompting hierarchies, and individualized behavior plans. You will work closely with the teacher and autism support team to maintain a consistent, supportive learning environment.
Implement discrete trial training, task analysis, and other autism‑specific strategies
Assist with visual supports (first–then boards, token systems, picture schedules)
Support academic centers, social skills groups, and structured teaching tasks
Model and prompt AAC, PECS, sign, and visual communication
Reinforce expressive/receptive language goals
Collaborate with speech‑language pathologists
Follow behavior intervention plans consistently
Use sensory tools, movement breaks, and calming strategies
Support students during dysregulation using approved crisis‑intervention protocols
Guide students through daily routines with clear prompts
Support transitions to specials, lunch, recess, and activities
Assist with functional independence goals
Participate in collaboration with teachers, BCBAs, therapists, and administrators
Maintain accurate behavioral and academic data
Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and policy expectations
Support classroom management and structured routines
Attend IEP meetings when requested
Perform additional duties as needed to support safe and effective operations
High school diploma (required)
Experience with elementary students (preferred)
Experience with autism or behavioral needs (strongly preferred)
Strong communication, reliability, and rapport‑building skills
Ability to follow teacher direction and use computer systems
Reliable transportation — car required
