Job Summary:
A Special Education Paraprofessional supports teachers in working with students who have special needs. They help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally by providing one-on-one or small group assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the teacher with classroom activities and lesson implementation
Provide individualized support to students based on their needs
Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive environment
Support students with daily tasks, including mobility, communication, and organization
Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher
Help prepare instructional materials and classroom setup
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional certification)
Patience, compassion, and strong communication skills
Ability to work well with children of varying abilities
Basic understanding of special education practices (preferred)
