The Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine School District is seeking part-time paraprofessionals to assist the students in the Regular Education Classrooms, the Title I Schoolwide Program, and Special Education Program. To assist teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction in the three areas. To assist in clerical work when needed as determined by the teachers.

Essential Duties of the Paraeducator Position

  • Instructional Support and Reinforcement: The aide is responsible for implementing instructional programs under teacher supervision, which includes working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning materials initially introduced by the teacher. This often involves specific skills in subjects like math and following multi-step instructions.

  • Student Supervision and Safety: A core duty is monitoring students across various school environments-including the classroom, library, playground, lunchroom, and during bus loading-to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Implementation of Educational and Behavioral Plans: The role involves adapting classroom work and implementing specific plans to meet students'' educational, social, emotional, and daily living skill objectives.

  • Physical and Medical Assistance: For assigned students, particularly those who are medically fragile, the aide assists with physical needs such as toileting, diapering, tube feeding, and general health monitoring.

  • Collaborative Communication and Data Collection: The aide must effectively communicate student progress or problems to teachers and administrators and support teachers with data collection to document student activities and progress.

  • Consistency in Attendance and Educational Support: Maintain daily attendance and punctuality as a fundamental requirement to ensure that the goals of the school unit are met without interruption. Consistent presence is vital for the uninterrupted implementation of plans designed to meet students'' educational, social, emotional, and daily living skills, as well as to provide the steady supervision necessary for a safe and positive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or HSED.

  • Must be "highly qualified".

  • Certified in the area of employment with the appropriate licensure
