Paraprofessional - Special Education - Part-time

Dracut High School is seeking a part-time Special Education Paraprofessional to support our post-graduate program. This role is critical in supporting students aged 18-22 as they transition into adulthood, focusing heavily on life skills development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Life Skills Support: Assist students with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), self-care, and independence skills.
• Community Integration: Escort and supervise students during community trips, vocational tasks, and travel training to foster real-world skill application.
• Instructional Assistance: Reinforce academic and social skills material initially introduced by the teacher, focusing on the generalization of skills in natural settings.
• Behavioral Implementation: Assist in implementing treatment, safety, and behavior plans as outlined by the special education team.
• Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with classroom teachers, BCBAs, and service providers (OT/PT/Speech) to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

Experience working with children in a school setting is preferred. Some assignments may include direct supervision and support of one or more students throughout the school day, personal care support, self-care support, toileting and/or diapering, and any other duties and responsibilities as directed by special education teachers, inclusion specialists, therapists and as assigned by a Principal.
