Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required, up to sixty (60) college credits preferred
  • Two (2) years' experience in the District PTA organization or similar organization
  • Ability to communicate effective and write in English
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license
  • Ability to work with people and in emergency/hostile situations
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between the District and families and programs. May include, but is not limited to, assist with the needs of the Building Principal, home visits and accurate, timely submission of District, State and Federal Reports
  • Maintain confidentiality of written and verbal parent information
  • Provide direct services to families in the areas of outreach, recruitment, and attendance for students
  • Be informed of, and interact with community-based organizations to address parent concerns that impact the education setting
  • Advocate for student/family rights including student progress and other matters which require outreach to parents
  • Coordinate with the Health/Social Services Department to address the crisis/emergency needs of District students and families
  • Must attend District PTA meetings, school forums for the related school, and all other events/functions that pertain to the related school
  • Must attend District-wide Parent Academy Programs
  • Be aware of and inform District Administrators and other local officials about the needs of the students and parents
  • Organize a Parent Resource room which could provide clothing, food, computer access and other resources
  • Organize and conduct in-service trainings for parents (e.g. Parent Workshop) a minimum of twice per month
  • Handle stressful situations in a calm manner
  • Ability to type accurately, proofread material and make necessary corrections
  • Ability to follow instructions and/or work independently
  • Operate computer and standard office equipment
  • Ability to effectively adapt to changing situation within the workplace
  • Ability and willingness to utilize and adapt to current and changing technologies as required at the site
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Assist in the development of office procedures
  • Perform all other related duties as required

  • Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times

EVALUATION:

The Principal and/or Community Family Advocate shall evaluate the Parent Coordinator in accordance with Board Policy and relevant State statute(s).

Program Duration: 2026-2027 School Year

Hours: 8:25 a.m. 3:05 p.m

Salary: As per collective bargaining agreement (Pending Availability of funds)
