POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction issues and/or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. The position will provide advocacy, mentoring, and peer support in the early stages of the recovery process.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing advocacy, mentoring, and peer support in the early stages of the recovery process
  • Working with consumers in a group or individual setting to assist in the building of recovery skills and their application
  • Building and utilizing sober support systems
  • Understanding of the recovery process from the peer perspective
  • Assisting with the management of daily activities, monitoring the daily schedule, providing medication monitoring, and transportation
  • Working closely with the clinical team and nursing staff to ensure consistency of care
  • Crisis management and support is also an important function of this position

About the Gage House

The Gage House is a 15-bed residential facility licensed to concurrently treat substance use disorders and mental health Illness. It is a voluntary treatment program for men and women aged 18 and older. Gage House offers structured treatment activities, individualized to meet the needs of each person entering the program. Individuals can expect to participate in group therapy multiple times per day with a variety of topics and activities. They will also receive regular contact with a psychiatrist and sessions with a counselor. Family participation is encouraged in weekly group and individual sessions as needed. The length of treatment depends on the needs of each person; stays vary in length from 21-90 days as determined by the clinical team. Individuals will also be assessed and linked with community providers as deemed appropriate during their treatment stay.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a minimum of three years in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other drugs and have a strong recovery program that includes natural supports
  • Must have Recovery Specialist certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board
  • Must be free of illicit drug use and maintain and promote a clean, sober lifestyle
  • Valid drivers license with access to a vehicle during scheduled work hours

Position Summary:

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) functions as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary team and provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to clients enrolled in the LTSR program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
