PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) - NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / EEL RIVER SECTOR
"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program)."
The Park Aide reporting location is at 3431 Fort Ave. Eureka, CA 95503, Fort Humboldt State Historic Park and may include duties within and adjacent to parks around the North Coast Redwoods District. The position will be supervised by the State Park Interpreter III.
The Park Aide (PA) helps safeguard California State Parks by communicating to the public the complex stories of the redwood forest and the environments which have shaped human life and culture on the North Coast. The PA will work closely with interpretive staff to provide educational opportunities and experiences for our visitors, partners, local schools, and volunteers. This position is located at Fort Humboldt State Historic Park and may include duties within and adjacent to parks around the North Coast Redwoods District. A uniform is required, as outlined in the California State Parks' uniform handbook.
The Park Aide interpreter should be passionate about outdoor life, the natural environment, and cultural history. We desire an employee committed to the mission of State Parks and respect for the front-facing role that this position plays. A sense of professionalism and the willingness to purchase and wear a uniform is required. An appreciation for park visitors and a sense of empathy toward their unique experiences and worldviews is essential. An employee with an ability to collaborate with others, communicate clearly and honestly, and motivated to work independently is especially desired.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
State housing may be required. Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.
