Job Summary:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Skilled Laborer supports the Parks and Recreation Program by performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and custodial duties essential to the safe, efficient, and welcoming operation of park facilities. This position assists in installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and basic pipe and electrical systems within assigned areas.

Job Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs necessary repairs or installation as per work order.

· Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.

· Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

· Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment including carpentry.

· Assists electrician and plumber with wiring and plumbing.

· Routine Park upkeep includes, but is not limited to ground maintenance, custodial and janitorial services, and overall functionality of the parks and recreation facilities to ensure safety and support daily operations.

· Regular on-call duties and responds to weekends, holidays, and after-hours emergencies.

· All other duties as assigned.

 

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

· No supervisory responsibility.

· Assignments received with set guidelines.

· Organizes own work.

· Sets own processes.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

· High School diploma or general education (GED) and one (1) year of specialized training or education.

· One (1) year of experience in a related field.

 

COMPETENCIES

· Grounds maintenance skills.

· Operation and routine care of maintenance equipment and tools.

· Reliability, punctuality, and consistent follow-through.

· Problem-solving.

· Basic landscaping principles.

· Physical ability to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).          

· Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

4 - 10 hour shifts, rotating days, weekends included.
